Did you do it?
When all or nothing thinking helps…
You often hear that black and white thinking is bad.
A distortion that leads to a Modern Man taking no action.
Due to the fact that if circumstances or the man himself is not perfect.
Or cannot complete a task in a perfect way.
Then renders any action as useless.
In the instance yes it isn’t helpful.
Because if you can’t hit the gym for 60-90 minutes.
Then what’s the point?
This is where you are bullshitting yourself mate
20 minutes is more than enough time to take some action.
Albeit not ‘perfect’.
When this binary thinking can be helpful is when we think about effort > outcome.
Did you do it? Did you not do it?
The action I am talking about.
Did you go the gym? For that run? Have that difficult conversation? Sit down and write for 5 minutes?
Yes or No.
In this instance it doesn’t matter if you tried..
you either did or you didn’t.
Use that as binary data to change what didn’t work.
And celebrate what did.
And if you’re finding yourself veering on the side of..
You didn’t do the work.
I can help you with this.
